The Young Artist Studio: A 34-Week Journey
Every Artist Begins Somewhere
No child is born knowing how to draw.
But every child is born curious.
Throughout this year, your child won't simply complete art projects.
They'll gradually develop the habits of an artist:
Learning to observe...
to experiment...
to solve creative problems...
to trust their own ideas...
and to express themselves with confidence.
Each unit builds naturally upon the last, so that by the end of the year students aren't simply taking home beautiful artwork—they're beginning to think, see, and create like artists.
This 34-week curriculum provides a structured yet creative path to developing fundamental art skills, exploring diverse media, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for art history and creative expression.
Classes meet weekly for two hours, allowing ample time for comprehensive instruction, hands-on creation, and meaningful reflection.
Program Goals
Our goal is to move beyond simple "crafts"
and introduce students to formal artistic concepts.
By the end of the program, students will be able to:
Understand the Elements of Art (Line, Shape, Color, Value, Texture, Form, Space).
Explore Various Media (Pencils, watercolor, clay, collage, printmaking materials).
Develop Technical Skills (Observational drawing, color mixing, perspective, sculpting).
Appreciate Art History (Learn about famous artists and different cultural styles).
Express Creativity and confidently discuss their own work and the work of peers.

Unit 1
The Artist’s Warm-Up

What to Expect Each Week
Students will engage in hands-on projects guided by specific learning objectives.
We value the process of creation as much as the final product.
WEEKLY RHYTHM
Each week follows a familiar studio rhythm:
🎨 Observe
Students sharpen their eyes through short drawing exercises and creative warm-ups.
📚 Discover
Together we'll study an artist, technique, or artistic concept.
✏️ Create
Students apply what they've learned while developing their own unique ideas.
💬 Reflect
We finish every class by discussing our work, celebrating progress, and learning how artists think about their own creations.
Pricing
Each class is $50 per student.
If paying with the Step Up For Students scholarship:
funds must be reserved PRIOR to each class.
Inside the EMA portal, look for “Grand Momentum ART” in the providers.
Then, select the “2-hour in-person art classes” option to reserve funds.

When confirming a spot for the class, you are committing to the entire 34-week curriculum.
